The pictures are nice, but the calendar itself was a bit disappointing. I'm used to the Page-A-Day calendars that have one day per page, so at the end of the day, I can just tear it off and use it for scrap paper. This silly thing has two days per page. At the end of every day, I have to move today's page to the back, and in July, I will flip the pages over to use the other side for the end of the year.
This is an awesome calendar for an art lover. There is a nice variety of paintings and crafted objects, from high to material art. The depicted art ranges from the 4th century BC to the modern era and is from cultures spanning the globe. Works of famous artists (Monet, Van Gogh, Rubens, etc.) are interspersed with lesser known works. The paper is nice and durable and the calendar is a good size without being too large.
I've used this calendar for years now as I love seeing old favorites and also seeing work by favorite artists I was unaware of before like todays Van Gogh. Additionally I am exposed to works I never would have looked for --musical instruments, tools, couture, wonderful furniture, armaments. I give the calenders as gifts as well--usually 10 or 12 a year to friends and family. beautiful, classy, informative, educational.
I love it even though the year hasnt started. Each year these calendars make the pages thinner and thinner. The first edition was so thick that I felt guilty tossing it at the end of the year. But it is still in framable paper. I went thru the entire year and was delighted to see the selection.
I've made it my tradition to get one of these gallery calendars each year for my office. They're a cut above normal page-a-day calendars and the imagery is vibrant and a nice daily surprise. As others have mentioned, it is a bit disappointing how many of the art pictures are objects. While I don't disagree that these are art - a picture of an Eames chair or early pottery is kind of a bummer. I wouldn't purchase this version again, but I would recommend "Flowers" and "Dogs" by the same brand.
This calendar is printed on high quality paper with an art image accompanied by tiny print description underneath. Both sides of each page are printed, and at the 6 month mark, you simply removed the entire deck and reverse it in the plastic display case to commence the second half of the year. I offer my expired sets to Freecyclers as art project material, and they are snapped up! I look forward to a new surprise every day, and I've discovered many pieces of art I otherwise would not have found on my own. The price makes this an affordable virtual daily museum visit!
Beautiful calendar that displays high quality pictures of the art exhibited at the MET in New York City. It decorates perfectly and helps you get to know art of all times. Some of the pictures are a bit less interesting when they display ancient tools, i personally prefare the pictures, but all in all you get a big variety of pictures. I highly recommend.
